Jeff is a great captain, positive dude. A fisherman among men. An informative advocate of the Columbia River fishery that all Oregonians/Tourists should appreciate and take part of. He took us and our boys out for Springer Salmon fishing – a daunting task considering this elusive fishery is facing so many challenges. I'm a catch and release guy by nature but was really excited to catch/eat/cook a Springer on a Traeger 4 hours from landing at the Clatskanie River Inn. By all means, catch a salmon and eat it the very same day to appreciate how great it tastes and how it makes you feel connected to the river and the ebb and flow of life. This is a precious resource and opportunity that we all have to experience and protect. Jeff is open with his knowledge and willingness to share his insights that I will not divulge on Google. By all means book a trip with him, listen, learn and observe/conserve what we all have. We are excited to go out with him again for Sturgeon in shallow water and we will be bringing all sorts of go-pros, 360 camera's, etc. for a totally different type of experience.

We were catching fish nonstop, with double fish-on three times during on our salmon fishing trip, making it an insanely amazing experience! Jeff and Julie treated us like family, which is something we had not experienced with any other charter service, and we have been on several. We were invited to their home where they filleted, cleaned, and vacuumed packed our fish. It made transporting our fish home mess-free. Jeff and Julie live in Astoria year round, so they know all the best fishing spots. Jeff’s fishing prowess must be mentioned, because his experience allowed us to catch fish when others just watched and waited. Julie, the deckhand, was invaluable to maximizing our time catching fish. I wish I was aware of their heart, soul, and skill prior to booking other charters. Another great crabbing experience with Astoria Fishing Charters! Jeff and Julie are experts, and navigated us through some choppy waves and wind in the Columbia in their awesome boat. They made sure we were all comfy and prepared. The crab pots came up with plenty of crab for everybody. Julie showed us how to prepare the catch (definitely part of the fun!), and cooked it for us with their professional outdoor setup, while we hung out by the campfire and watched the ball game. They also helped us pack our freshly cooked crab for travel home. They have an ice machine and vacuum sealer and a ton of advice on the best way to get your catch back home. Fantastic salmon fishing Jeff and Julie took me on a great fishing experience. They are experienced guides. Jeff is knowledgeable about fishing the Columbia river and the ocean. We caught our limit in salmon in September on the river and in the ocean. I would recommend him to anyone wanting to catch fish. Jeff"s wife Julie is a great deckhand and helps make your fishing trip a great experience. I will definitely fish with them again.

Feels almost redundant based on the 9ther reviews but its no lie Jeff and Julie are the real deal in every way and if you are in astoria they are the way to go. True locals unlike some other companies that only pretend they are actually local but just move around by season. My arms are so tired from all the sturgeon its hard to type this!

I have been fishing all over for 60 years, my wife, her sister and significant other, and I went catch and release sturgeon fishing today. It was the best trip ever, we caught ~45 fish between 4'-8' in 4hrs. Jeff and Julie are amazing.

Jeff and Julie are awesome. We went out for a catch and release sturgeon trip and it was amazing. We caught at least 25 sturgeon on the Columbia, with some of them being 7 and 8 feet long. They were super organized and kept the rods baited and at the same time, they were unhooking hooks for us. They supplied us with gloves and jackets if we wanted to use them on the boat. Highly rated!

I can't recommend them enough. I had so much fun! I have never been fishing. Well, not since I was 5. They were very patient with me, taught me what I needed, showed me and helped me out. They even had rain gear for me to borrow(I thought I was layered enough...not. I froze despite layers, so when you think you have enough, add 3 more, you can always remove them later). We all got our limit. They packaged it up for us and put it on ice for me. They made everything fun yet were still professional. You won't go wrong with Jeff and Julie.

Me and my wife just had our first charter experience with Astoria Fishing Charters. Since it was our first time, my wife was a little worried, but Jeff and Julie were amazing. They took care of us from providing rain gear to packaging our fish for our flight home. They are very prepared and organized. Really great service, and even better people. Jeff took us out for Sturgeon on the Columbia River Basin. His communication and information before the trip was excellent. It was the experience of a lifetime! Jeff and Julie worked hard for us rigging, baiting, setting hooks and landing fish. They also provided lots of instruction and techniques to help us get through the day more efficiently. Jeff reached out a day prior letting me know Chinook season just opened back on the Upper Columbia and versus dealing with high winds and choppy water in ocean, Jeff said we might have a more enjoyable time with calmer waters and fishing one of his favorite spots. Fishing guide I have been out with several times over the last few years. Jeff knows the Springer Chinook fishery on the Columbia River. He puts in the work to make the chances of success very high. Went out on June 6th, 4 anglers, 7 adult Chinook and several jacks. He works for you.

Full boat limit by 10am. And he said it was a slow day. If limits by brunch is slow I don’t know if I could handle a “good” day! Other than his ability to get you on fish quick and consistently, he’s a genuinely amazing person and a blast to fish with! This man knows his stuff, PERIOD!

6 people on out boat. 6 keeper Chinook Salmon. The fish and wildlife person said she had checked 7 other boats, with a total of 2 fish between them. The proof is in the freezer.

This was my second year in a row going out salmon fishing with Jeff and Julie, had a blast as usual! Caught 2 Coho Salmon, and walked away with my limit on crab too! They cook the crab for you in a huuuge pot at there home. Then they clean and package up the fish for you. Awesome people! Couldn't be happier with their hospitality and service! Thanks guys! What an amazing day! Jeff is a master at navigating the waters and finding the fish. Julie, hostess with the mostest, ran around making sure everyone was comfortable and that our lines were well baited and ready for the next fish. At the end of our successful day we were invited to their home where they cleaned, filleted and vacuum packed our catch. Definitely a 5 star day.

I don’t believe we could have had a better fishing experience thanks to Jeff and Julie. Despite having what looked to be 200+ fishing boats out on the water, Jeff was able to put us on top of fish with 5 of the 6 people on the boat landing chinook salmon. We had one coho that was just 1/2” too short to keep and 3 other strikes that were able to break away. As a long time resident of Astoria, Jeff really knew the local waters and was able to find locations that didn’t have 100’s of other people looking for a catch. Jeff and Julie took our catch back to their home and filleted, processed and vac sealed our fish. They also gave us great advice on how to best transport our fish. Definitely one of those rare occurrences where you meet new people as strangers and leave as friends.

All the fish was cut and vacuum sealed for us and even had ice available for three trip home. You won't find a better guide in the area. Fishing with Jeff and Julie was the absolute highlight of our trip on the Oregon coast. We put in on the Columbia and went through the “bar” into the Pacific to catch our limit of Coho Salmon and got a nice hall of crab as well. We saw seals and even caught a glimpse of some whales. The Astoria Fishing team clearly knew the waters better than anyone and was quick to change locations if it didn’t appear they would be fruitful. Coming from a family of fisherman and guides on the gulf coast, I can tell you that you won’t go wrong with this team. Jeff took me and another fisherman out to anchor for some salmon on the Columbia. We caught 4 nice salmon when none of the other 7 boats we could see even got a strike. He filleted our fish and shrink wrapped it for us. He's an honest guy that really knows the local waters. I highly recommend him. Amazing Time Fishing For Sturgeon! My 11 year old son and I had a blast. We've been salmon fishing before in the past on the Columbia, but THIS IS SO MUCH BETTER. Jeff and Julie were great. Lots of fun. Where else can each of us in the boat catch multiple giant fish in 7 hours. Definitely child friendly guide. This is a must do if your planning on going to the area.

One of the best trips I have ever been, Jeff and Julia were absolutely the best hosts, they went way beyond what a typical service does, very friendly, they cooked our crab and let us dine with them at the fire side, while filleting our all of our salmon. Jeff was very knowledgeable about his trade, and shared some of his tricks, and Julia made sure we were comfortable and stayed dry by providing us with rain gear. Truly a great trip, and I plan to use them more in the future.

My daughter and I booked a trip with Jeff and Julie in late May of 2020. We were met at the Marina on time and ready to go. The boat was very nice and we enjoyed the wild ride across the bar going out of Astoria. We reached the fishing grounds after a short scenic trip and began fishing. The fun began! We hooked up ling cod, sea bass and several other species of fish, then moved on to the next hot spot. The fishing was exceptional, however Jeff and Julie made the trip unforgettable. They were beyond friendly and went above and beyond in every way. If you are coming to the Astoria area, book with Astoria fishing charters, you won't regret it!

Great Day of crabbing. Super awesome couple. Both Jeff and Julie were excellent. Above and beyond in communication and service. We limited out on jumbo crab and they cooked and fed us at their home afterwards. Looking forward to doing other trips with them throughout the year. I see sturgeon fishing in my future.

Jeff and Julie make a great team. Jeff kept looking for fish as conditions changed, and Julie kept the lines in the water. My wife reeled in 8 by nice fish but only one keeper, and I managed three fish with two keepers. It was a slow day, but Jeff and Julie stayed out all day looking for those fish. Me and a buddy went out ocean salmon fishing on 7/12/19 with jeff and julie and really enjoyed our experience. It went pretty slow in the morning trying to find the fish because of strong winds the past couple days but jeff used his knowledge and got us on the hot bite and where no one else was.limited out the group of 5 and jeff and julie got 3 more while getting ready to head back.amazing to see so many rods going off at the same time.got back to the dock by 1130 and was suprised to hear we were the first to limit out with a group larger than 2.apparently other people had a hard time finding the salmon.i give jeff an A + for this experience

Jeff worked incredibly hard on what was a slow fishing day. We maybe tried 15 fishings spots, tried a multitude of different baits and even fished for 2hrs extra! We where rewarded with two nice Sturgeon at the end of the charter. I couldnt be happier! Thankyou Jeff for all your knowledge and effort!!!

Friendly guy, nice boat, comfy seats, only downside is a lack of shelter - to be expected on a boat this size and design. The fish weren't really biting, but he knew all the places to look until we caught our limit of sea bass and crabs.

Jeff and Julie are AMAZING wonderful caring and genuine. They really make you feel welcomed and are amazing fishing guides/hosts. I will be returning, and i couldn't reccomend anyone better. I made last minute plans for my fathers birthday and they were more than accommodating. And when I say last minute, I mean we called Monday afternoon and we fishing Tuesday morning. They took us out on the ocean, put us right on some beautiful fish, and helped us limit out on all our Salmon, Bottom Fish, and Crab! After we finished our activities on the water, helped us clean and cook our crab, and took us to a nice location to have pur fish cleaned, cut, and sealed! truly an amazing business, run by top notch people. This was one of the best days of my life.
