The best of Astoria Wow! You could not ask for a better experience than to go with this charter company. Jeff and Julie are the best! Not only do they find the crab and let you hoist them into the boat, but then they take you back to their house and cook them up and package them for you to take home and give you ice for your coolers. Who in the industry would care so much like them??? I have told so many friends and family to book with them! Best fishing trip you could ask for. We go in August for Salmon with them every year and have never been disappointed. We travel 7.5 hours each way just to fish with them twice a year. That should tell you something. Jeff is the best at finding the fish and cutting them up for you to take home when fishing for salmon. Julie is the best at taking care of the needs of the customers on the boat and at their home when she boils the crab and packages them up for you. Don't waist your money on another charter. Book with them. You will be amazed. Don't forget to tip Julie for her hard work.

Fishing with Jeff and Julie was an amazing experience for my first salmon trip! Our group of 3 was able to borrow rain gear that kept us warm and dry on the water. Even though the tides were against us, the day far exceeded expectations. Jeff’s knowledge of salmon and the local conditions is impressive, and he kept us on fish until we all hit our limits before noon. Julie is an excellent deckhand, she kept the rods ready for us and made sure we had everything we needed. Jeff even took the time to teach me how to filet one of the coho when we got back which I really appreciated. They carefully cleaned and vacuum sealed the rest of the catch for us and I couldn’t have asked for a better day!

Due to scheduling and my limited time in Astoria, I wasn't able to fish with Jeff for bottom fish. He did offer me an opportunity to go crabbing with him. Jeff also offered recommendations of other local guides who may be able to get me out on short notice. I was able to book with another guide to bottom fish on Saturday. Though I had never talked with Jeff before today, he was more concerned that I get the right fishing opportunity than with booking with him. I really appreciate the guidance and caring. I am sorry my crabbing trip didn't happen because I'd really like to spend time with Jeff and his deck hand on the water. Maybe next time. Thank you sir for your support and recommendations. I really appreciate it.

Brother and I went 2 days for salmon and will be back. Both Jeff and Julie and extremely professional and determined to get their boat on the fish. Limits on chinook and coho both days, with one fish that my brother got going 21.7 lbs. We will be back next season.

8/8/2025 Went out Salmon fishing with Jeff and Julie, Jeff is a true Astorian and knows the river and ocean very well and their service is very professional, I have been a customer for 3 years now, we were out for a couple of hours and the boat had limited, I highly recommend them for their services, they filet your fish and vacuum pack, and pack it in ice for you for your trip home, they are highly experienced and it is always a pleasure going fishing with them, I highly recommend them to every one.

Went fishing yesterday with Jeff and Julie. I couldn’t have asked for a better day. Julie called me the day before the trip to advise us to take meclizine the night before the trip in addition to the day of. She also made sure to provide the proper attire that I didn’t think was needed but most certainly was. Even on a clear day you will get wet when the boat is under way. We limited out after 3 hours because Jeff knew where to go to get all the best fish. After we went to shore we went back to Jeff and Julie’s home where they filleted the fish for us. I asked to keep the heads and spines for soup and they were more than happy to accommodate. But here is the best part, Julie gave me her brine recipe and I put some of the salmon in the brine last night and smoked it this evening and oh my god it is the best smoked salmon I ever had. Now I could post the recipe, but I think it is better that you book a trip and get some good fish and meet some of the best fisherpeople in the Pacific Northwest. When you go back to get your fish cleaned ask Julie for the recipe and she will gladly show you.

Jeff and Julie EXCEEDED 5 star rating and expectation. My buddy and I caught 21 sturgeon in 4 hours and were worn out. It was incredible. Great boat size and width. Jeff was super knowledgeable and was always on the fish!

Went out with Jeff and Julie today. They are awesome!!! Jeff's expertise in handling the boat, always watching, and knowing what to do when swells get big is very comforting. Julie is a Worker!!! What an amazing fishing charter! We took a group of 6 ages 9 to 73 on an 8 hour sturgeon fishing trip in June 2025. We caught over 40 huge sturgeon! The kids arms were sore the next day! Trip with My Grandson This was my second time to go fishing with Jeff, but the first for bottom fishing. He told us up front that the trip to the spot would be about equal to the time to limit out, or about an hour each. He was spot on! We limited out on Sea Bass, as well as Ling Cod and caught a few Canary fish as well. Additionally we caught Cabezon, but those had to be released at this time of year. Jeff and Julie take care of the dressing and packaging of the fish as well as share a few recipes. They recommended the Sea Bass for fish tacos which is what we did on our return home, and it was great.

I had a wonderful time with Captain Jeff and first mate Julianna. Weather wasn't great this time of year for offshore so we stuck to the river and quickly caught our limits of jumbo crab. He showed us how to clean them and then Julianna cooked them all up for us at their place for a feast. We all went home with our limits of crab; cooked and professionally packaged for our voyage. I'll be back for Chinook Salmon and Ling Cod for sure.

If there was 10 stars above I would have clicked that one. This was my groups third crabbing trip in 2 years. We have limited out each of the 3 trips. Jeff is a conscientious skipper and Julie is a great deck hand. We have felt safe and well cared for each time. I'm booking another one for December.

We had an amazing trip with Captain Jeff and Julie last week and I highly recommend you go with them if you want experience, professionalism and fun. My 11year old grandson was absolutely thrilled with the whole experience. We caught our salmon limit and my son and grandson flew back to North Carolina with a huge bag of fillets. Coho fishing on Columbia River. I had a great experience with Jeff and Julie and caught my limit of coho. When things got slow Jeff was able to figure out where to have success. I highly recommend them and will go again next year.

I went fishing yesterday with Jeff and caught my limit of Coho. At times the fishing was very slow and Jeff worked hard to find where the fish were and once he did all hell broke loose. At one point we had seven fish laying in the bottom of the boat because he and Julie were two busy netting fish to deal with them. It was pretty cool having three on at the same time. I would highly recommend Jeff as a guide and definitely will go with him again next year.

Well-run operation, and I got to learn a bit about a fishery I had very little knowledge in. Would book again!

Jeff and Julie went above and beyond for us! I brought my daughter with us and I was a bit hesitant to do so for obvious reasons. They both treated her exactly how I was hoping they would and we ended up staying in the water to the last minute possible so that she could get her limit! They got us in the fish over and over which ended up getting all six of us our limit! They’re the best! 10/10!! Here’s a few pics!

Went for salmon fishing with a party of 4 at Buoy 10 in August. Amazing experience! Jeff and Julie were both very knowledgeable and helpful. Caught lots of fish. They had free rain gear rentals which was super nice since you can get pretty wet out on the river. Definitely reccomend!

Great time Sturgeon fishing! Went out for a bachelor party with Captain Jeff and his deckhand Julie. It was a trip of a lifetime! We targeted sturgeon and landed over 30 fish, several over 8 feet long. They both had fantastic knowledge of fishing, not to mention made it a great time all around. Jeff and Julie are amazing and we will be booking with them again. They put us right on several schools of seabass and we hit our limit almost right away. they gave us a little tour of the lighthouse with the sea lions and even processed all our fish for us. I caught a crab and Julie cooked it up for us while jeff cut up our fish. We will be using them again no doubt.

Was a amazing day on the water with Jeff and Julie. My friend and his daughter flew out from Pennsylvania, and two other friends from Washington State joined me on a spectacular day of fishing. We caught 25 sturgeon and a few accidental flounder in just a few hours. The sturgeon ranged from 50+ inches to approx 11 ft. Most were in the 6-8 ft range. We will definitely be back.

Cannot begin to tell you how amazing Jeff and Julie were. Easy meet up, they even had rain gear for us to use!! Who does that?!? Jeff had us on the sturgeon almost immediately! Jeff is a great captain, positive dude. A fisherman among men. An informative advocate of the Columbia River fishery that all Oregonians/Tourists should appreciate and take part of. He took us and our boys out for Springer Salmon fishing – a daunting task considering this elusive fishery is facing so many challenges. I'm a catch and release guy by nature but was really excited to catch/eat/cook a Springer on a Traeger 4 hours from landing at the Clatskanie River Inn. We were catching fish nonstop, with double fish-on three times during on our salmon fishing trip, making it an insanely amazing experience! Jeff and Julie live in Astoria year round, so they know all the best fishing spots. Another great crabbing experience with Astoria Fishing Charters! Jeff and Julie are experts, and navigated us through some choppy waves and wind in the Columbia in their awesome boat. They made sure we were all comfy and prepared. The crab pots came up with plenty of crab for everybody. Julie showed us how to prepare the catch (definitely part of the fun!), and cooked it for us with their professional outdoor setup, while we hung out by the campfire and watched the ball game. They also helped us pack our freshly cooked crab for travel home. They have an ice machine and vacuum sealer and a ton of advice on the best way to get your catch back home. We caught our limit in salmon in September on the river and in the ocean. I would recommend him to anyone wanting to catch fish. Feels almost redundant based on the 9ther reviews but its no lie Jeff and Julie are the real deal in every way and if you are in astoria they are the way to go. True locals unlike some other companies that only pretend they are actually local but just move around by season. My arms are so tired from all the sturgeon its hard to type this!

I have been fishing all over for 60 years, my wife, her sister and significant other, and I went catch and release sturgeon fishing today. It was the best trip ever, we caught ~45 fish between 4'-8' in 4hrs. Jeff and Julie are amazing.

Jeff and Julie are awesome. We went out for a catch and release sturgeon trip and it was amazing. We caught at least 25 sturgeon on the Columbia, with some of them being 7 and 8 feet long. They were super organized and kept the rods baited and at the same time, they were unhooking hooks for us. They supplied us with gloves and jackets if we wanted to use them on the boat. Highly rated!

I can't recommend them enough. I had so much fun! I have never been fishing. Well, not since I was 5. They were very patient with me, taught me what I needed, showed me and helped me out. They even had rain gear for me to borrow(I thought I was layered enough...not. I froze despite layers, so when you think you have enough, add 3 more, you can always remove them later). We all got our limit. They packaged it up for us and put it on ice for me. They made everything fun yet were still professional. You won't go wrong with Jeff and Julie.

Was an amazing charter 2nd charter I have ever been on and will be the only charter I will use for my trips around Astoria vacationing in the future we really appreciate the attention to detail with Jeff and Julie that you won't get with the bigger fishing charter company's thanks once again guys

I have been on more than one fishing charter. Seriously folks look no more! Jeff and Julie was awesome and the most affordable price for everything that they include in their package. I will be coming back.

Best experience! Jeff and Julie were knowledgeable, friendly, and just hands down awesome. My husband and I went out two different days while in town. Both days we had a blast. Me and my wife just had our first charter experience with Astoria Fishing Charters. Since it was our first time, my wife was a little worried, but Jeff and Julie were amazing. They took care of us from providing rain gear to packaging our fish for our flight home. They are very prepared and organized. Really great service, and even better people. Will be back again in the future.

Best guided trip ever. Limits of cohos by 9:30 and 2 very large sturgeon each before 1pm. Lastly, they perfectly cleaned and packaged our fish to take home via airplane. Jeff and Julie are a top notch crew. Thanks for a great day!

Jeff took us out for Sturgeon on the Columbia River Basin. His communication and information before the trip was excellent. It was the experience of a lifetime! Jeff and Julie worked hard for us rigging, baiting, setting hooks and landing fish. They also provided lots of instruction and techniques to help us get through the day more efficiently. The experience has only gotten better as my kids keep talking about it to anyone who will listen. 40+ giant fish in six hours. Simply amazing.
