Astoria Fishing Charters and Guide Service

Our Bottom Fishing Charters normally feature fast action and quick limits.  We catch sea bass (black rock cod), Ling Cod, Cabezon, kelp greenling and a variety of other tasty fish that make their home near the rocky bottoms of the Pacific Ocean.  We limit out a very high percentage of the time and it doesnt often take long! 

There are two areas that we target, depending on conditions.  Most often, we fish the south Jetty, right where the Columbia River and Pacific Ocean meet.  The upsides of fishing here include much larger than average sea bass, very good ling cod and cabezon fishing and its very close by to the river mouth.  It doesn't take long to get there and it doesn't take long to get back.

When Pacific Ocean conditions are extremely good, we can run down to Tillamook head area.  Advantages here are that its a long ways from any boat launch or marina and gets very little pressure.  Fishing here is normally lights out fast action.  Disadvantage is it's twenty miles from the river mouth.  From the Hammond marina, it's around an hour there and an hour back on a very flat ocean.  

Bottom fishing is open year round and is best on smaller tides, when the ocean is calm and fishing pressure is light. Pressure on the fish is much lighter in relatively slow fishing seasons like Winter and Spring when ocean conditions are often iffy.  The longer I fish in the Pacific Ocean, the more I like really enjoyable ocean conditions.
