Bottom Fishing Charters

Our Bottom Fishing Charters are known for fast action and quick limits. We regularly catch sea bass (black rock cod), lingcod, cabezon, kelp greenling, and a variety of other delicious fish that thrive near the rocky bottoms of the Pacific Ocean. We limit out a high percentage of the time—and it usually doesn’t take long!

Depending on conditions, we target two main areas. Most often, we fish near the South Jetty—right where the Columbia River meets the Pacific Ocean. This spot offers several advantages: larger-than-average sea bass, excellent lingcod and cabezon fishing, and a short ride from the river mouth. That means more time fishing and less time getting there.

When ocean conditions are especially favorable, we may head south to the Tillamook Head area. This location sees very little fishing pressure due to its distance from any marina, which often results in lights-out, fast-paced action. The tradeoff? It’s about 20 miles from the river mouth. On a calm day, it takes about an hour each way from Hammond Marina—but if conditions are right, it’s absolutely worth the ride.

Bottom fishing is open year-round and is typically best during smaller tides, calm ocean conditions, and when fishing pressure is light. While winter and spring often bring less predictable weather, they also offer lighter pressure on the fish and quieter days on the water.
